IAAS company ( Eucalyptus Systems) Opens London EMEA HQ
Open Source Business Expert Paul Holt Joins Eucalyptus to Accelerate Worldwide Adoption for Company's Private Cloud Software
Eucalyptus Systems, creators of the world's most widely deployed on-premise cloud platform, today announced that it has opened a corporate office in London, England to serve as its EMEA headquarters. Paul Holt, an industry veteran with deep experience and proven success in open source software sales and management, has joined Eucalyptus as vice president of EMEA Sales. Holt is responsible for accelerating and supporting the growing adoption of Eucalyptus' Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) software throughout the European Union, the Middle East and Africa.
With an expanding worldwide presence, Eucalyptus' new London operation is the latest step in the rapid growth of the company, following the launch of its India and China offices earlier this year.
Eucalyptus is experiencing strong demand in EMEA from segments including telecom, finance, high-growth social media and gaming, and government.
According to Said Ziouani, Eucalyptus Systems' senior vice president of Worldwide Sales, "Eucalyptus private clouds have been started more than 25,000 times around the world, and we are experiencing continued strong global demand. Paul brings to Eucalyptus proven success in defining sales strategies and creating the necessary channels for successful open source businesses. His experience will be invaluable in leveraging the growing interest in scalable, enterprise-grade elastic hybrid and on-premise clouds among businesses and government agencies worldwide."
Holt comes to Eucalyptus with a strong track record of sales and business leadership, with a focus on open source software organizations. Most recently, he was the director of corporate sales and service at Canonical, the commercial entity behind the popular Ubuntu Linux distribution. Prior to Canonical, he served as the director of EMEA for Springsource, a provider of application infrastructure and management technologies that was acquired by VMware in August 2009. Holt also served in a variety of sales leadership roles at Red Hat from 2001-2008, most recently the director of UK, Ireland, East Europe, South Africa for Red Hat.
"It's an amazing opportunity to work with Eucalyptus, a company that is delivering a enterprise-ready, open source cloud solution that addresses the growing requirement in data centers today for secure, scalable and affordable on-demand computing," said Holt. "I look forward to helping extend the company's success even further by more aggressively communicating and delivering the benefits of elastic cloud computing to a broader global market."
