EMEA PC Shipments Declined by 10.7% in 4Q 2012

Weakness in Consumer and Commercial Demand Persist, Says IDC

In line with expectations, PC shipments in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) continued to contract in the fourth quarter of 2012 (4Q12) as sustained weakness in consumer demand and budget constraints in the commercial segment led to a decline of 10.7% in overall PC shipments compared to the same quarter last year.

PC market saw growth stall in 2012

The worldwide PC market saw growth stall in the second quarter of 2012 (2Q12), with shipments falling 0.1% from a year ago, according to International Data Corporation (IDC).

The results are slightly below IDC's May projections of 2.1% year-on-year growth, but in-line with projections of a slow second and third quarter before faster growth by year end.

EMEA PC Market Contracts 3.8% in 3Q11,

PC shipments in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) continued to contract in 3Q11 as sustained weakness in dealer & consumer demand and increasing caution in the commercial segment led to a decline of 3.8% in overall PC shipments compared with the same quarter last year, in line with expectations.
